Winter Staple: Knee High Boots
So I purchased my first pair of knee high boots... I've always had this image of Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman everytime I thought of knee high boots, but it's been altered since being pregnant... How you ask? Every woman who has been pregnant knows that her best friend are her black leggings! Which reminds me I need to go out and buy a few more pairs... The black assists with the slimming effect and the stretchiness of the leggings provides maximum comfort when all else is uncomfortable... The issue with the leggings I've found though (here in the Boston winter) is that it is not thick enough to keep me warm... Yes, I could wear stockings underneath, but I hate wearing layers on my legs... The solution: knee high boots. I was on Carnaby Street in London and walked into this shoe store that was packed. It's usually a good sign when a shoe store is bustling - although not that pleasant for a pregnant woman to walk through and try to get sizes and try on shoes... I was literally sweating by the time I left the store... However, I left with a big smile...
In one hand was a pair of handmade brown boots from Portugal with leather straps wrapped all around the calf and in the other hand were my new pair of black leather knee high boots. Another plus about these boots are that there is no heel! Well, one inch heels, but to me that is equivalent of no heels. I cannot recall the last time I bought boots with no heel, but with this baby inside me, this is non-negotiable. I tried continuing to wear my heels in my first trimester and by the end, I would be in excruciating back pain... Hmmmm... I wonder if that's contributing to all of my back pain now?
I hope not. Anyway, with my black leggings, these knee high boots and my 550 fp NF jacket, it has become my favorite, warmest, go-to ensemble this winter... And the best part is that I cannot outgrow any of these pieces throughout the pregnancy!!!
Oh, I almost forgot... When hubby saw the boots, he said "those aren't mommy boots!" I told him I wasn't a mommy yet!!! What do you think?
