NST/PIH
So I went for my regular weekly OB appt today... She did her usual routine and then asked me a few more questions that she usually doesn't. Yes, I am more swollen than I had been, but I didn't think that was unusual given the rise in the temp lately. She checked my blood pressure, ask if I had headaches, etc. At the end she tells me she wants me to go to L&D and get a Non Stress Test. Of course I had no idea what this was, but if she wanted me to go get something checked out, then I was willing to go...
I went home first to eat dinner and then Freddie drove me to the hospital. When I got there, the nurse asked me why my OB ordered the NST - I told her I had no idea. They hooked me up to the monitors and then began observing the baby. He sounded fine - his heartbeat was regular and sounded strong to me! About 1/2 hour into it, the nurse called my OB to tell her how the baby was... It turns out my OB thought I had Pregnancy Induced Hypertension because my blood pressure had been high at my appt, I was swollen and told her I had had a headache the other day. I had never heard of PIH, but the nurse assured me that I didn't have it because when she checked my blood pressure, it read normal. Maybe my blood pressure was high at my appt cuz I just got out of work?
Stress from work? Who knows... Anyway, I am fine and the baby is kicking away now as I type. He is showing no signs of wanting to come out at this point. I am not dialated at all and have had no contractions. I hope he's not a stubborn ass like his parents! =0
