48 Weeks
This past weekend was full of ups and downs... Keoni has not been feeling well... On Saturday Fred stayed home with Keoni and I ran errands. It was so much quicker!!! Keoni was being pretty needy and Fred was exhausted by the time I got home... On Sunday we headed to the mall so Keoni could get some fresh air. He enjoyed "walking" in the mall. He'd take about 20 steps and then just kneel down because he was tired. We did some shopping and then headed home.
Sai and Tina came over with some yummy Cambodian food. It was their New Year's so they had parties with all their delicious cuisines. James came over later and we all pigged out on the curry and noodles. The bonus was that the C's won their first playoff game against the Knicks! We were all on edge the entire game and were so ecstatic when Ray hit the 3 pointer that ensured our win! Keoni was sleeping so we couldn't even scream!
Sunday night proved to be one horrible night. Keoni woke up at midnight and would not stop crying. I finally went to soothe him and when I was changing his diaper, I noticed that he was burning up! We took his temp and it was 101.4. I didn't know what to do as this is the first time he's had a temp so I called the on call nurse. She told me to give him some children's tylenol - thank god I had bought some for emergency purposes! I should have known something was off when he didn't finish his bedtime bottle. He usually downs 9 oz lately, but only drank 2! After we gave him the medicine, he cried for a good hour. Freddie managed to get him back to sleep and he slept until 8am... He woke up in decent spirits so I felt much better.
I headed to the Sox game on Monday with Denny and James. It was such a change of scenery and pace for me that it kind of felt off and weird. I had a good time and we won the game. By the time I got home, I was so exhausted from the previous night's ordeal. I managed to take an hour nap while Keoni napped. He seemed to feel better, but was coughing off and on. I put him to sleep at his normal time, but at midnight, he awoke again, very unhappy. He wasn't burning up, so I figured he was just not feeling well - perhaps a cold? Every time I'd hold him, he'd drift off to sleep, but the moment I laid him down, he'd be up and crying. I finally surrendered and put him on the bed in his room and slept next to him. He clung to me and every time I tried to move away, he cried. I fell asleep somehow and he slept through the night. I hope this doesn't become a habit because I never have a decent night's rest when we're both in the same bed. I'm so paranoid with sleeping in the bed with him. I surrounded the entire bed with pillows so he wouldn't roll off and slept in the most awkward position to ensure I couldn't physically roll over to his side. I hope he feels better because it is just the worst feeling to see your child sick. It makes it worse that he can't even tell you what's wrong...
On the bright side, Keoni turned 11 months on Wednesday! I can't believe how time is flying!!!
